Fallout female OC confronts repair bobblehead on top of corvega assembly plant
Fallout 4 can still surprise the heck out of me. I did a full re-install/re-mod not long ago, after one of my impulsive late additions (Vivid Weather, maybe?) did horrifying things to my frame rate and several textures. On my what, fourth? run of this, Nora’s stomping around at level five like The Final Pam even on Survival, somehow able to psychically predict where to get the drop on her enemies.

So, I was crawling my ridiculously over-encumbered ass around the Corvega assembly plant in Lexington, trying to get close to the fast-travel point before dumping the excess (because you better believe The Final Nora knew to keep every pipe gun and raider armor for future donations to her Sim Settlements’ security stats), when way off on an overpass, I noticed a funny bright light swinging around. Broke out my crappy pipe sniper rifle to have a look through the scope and, huh! A raider in power armor so early in the game, will ya look at that!

Next time he stomped past the break in the wall, just for fun, I took a shot at him. Aaaaaaand it landed. That headlamp swung around toward me and…he stomped out of view. Whew!

And then returned with a Fat Man! And The Final Nora hadn’t saved, I mean slept, in how long? Aaaaaaagh! Pew pew pew, went my little peashooter, too panicked to even try VATS, aaaaad…three hail-mary headshots, he was down without nuking me into orbit, ha ha ha, holy shit!

That’s now got to be part of fic-Nora’s backstory – how Sanctuary got its first Fat Man.

I LOVE THIS STORY. the game is so full of potential for wild little mishaps-turned-boons like this and i live for it!! it's especially fun to hear stories about Survival mode, since everything that happens feels a lot more important and exciting because You Can Die At Any Moment And Lose Your Progress. your nora seems incredibly lucky - or maybe she just has that powerful i-haven't-slept-in-days energy... either way, i'm sure the Sanctuary settlers were thrilled.

do you write about your Fallout shenanigans often? i admit i snooped a little and saw your post about FO76 as well. i love reading this stuff!

oohh, that sounds good. sometimes if i get stuck in firefights for a while it kinda takes the excitement out of it so maybe i'll give that a try next playthrough!

and yeah, i feel that, haha. i write about my sole survivor sometimes but mine is all just a mish-mash of assorted google docs that don't make much sense out of context. still, the passion is there. i'd love to read some of yours sometime if you ever feel like sharing!

i do play FO76! i'm not very fast at levelling or reaching endgame in any kind of multiplayer game, so i'm currently level 25-30ish despite having been playing since the beta. mostly i just hang around near my C.A.M.P. and occasionally go for a jog to give medicine/food to strangers. :^)

This reminds me of my first playthru as a non-stealth character. Uusally it takes me all night to make my way through Corvega, picking enemies off one by one with a laser musket modded to snipe. Last time though, I played a bruiser, and brought my power armor and mini gun along for the ride. The whole thing took me about 15 minutes, tops.
